Shelter (Men of Hidden Creek Season 1) (English Edition) Reviews
Another great book by Ed Davies and a whole awesome series written by different authors.,Orion returns to Hidden Creek to look after his grandmother, who needs help after an accident.Gabriel wants to leave Hidden Creek for a long time. He lives in a dump with his cousin and saves all the money he earns at the vegetable stall of Orion's family. Nenebei draws designs for gardens.Already in the highscool Gabriel had a crush on Orion. His approach attempt, however, was rejected.Orion is somewhat abandoned when he returns to Hidden Creek. When he meets Gabriel, a friendship and love story develops very quickly between the two.I love both characters, the insecure Orion, who is good at his job but often does not know how to behave on a personal level because he does not really understand his feelings. And Gabriel, who is very careful, who lives in fear of his ex-boyfriend and dreams of getting out of the place into the vast world.A wonderful love story, a story, among other things about second chances.
I really liked this story. The characters are endearing, fun, interesting and real. I liked that there was no "big bad" in this story and that normal doubts and fears can take hold of you and keep you on the move.Orion is worried about his future and keeping his Grandma on the mend. He has so many possible outcomes ahead that he feels like the weight of the world is on his shoulders. Luckily he can finally admit his feelings to Gabriel.Gabe is a great character that is tired of being left behind and of Not being wanted or appreciated. He stands up for himself while still having a healthy respect for the crazy people in his life. He knows who he wants and he is more than happy to help Orion figure out his feelings. He needs to learn that he matters too and that he can always go after what he dreams about. This is definitely a great read and hopefully a start to a new series for the author. I can't wait to read more about these guys.
Fourth book of the Men of Hidden Creek collection and first book of this author for me. It was an unexpected revelation and a quite enjoyable read. It was a well balanced story, where you may find many different elements, such as family-ties, little homophobia, kind of a second chance to love, challenges of returning home and trying to change carrier path, accepting oneself and supporting your partner, well developed side characters and a villain, whom I hope will find his retribution in one of the other books of the collection. Written from both POV, the two men's characters are rich in facets and their relationship is balanced, even though still very sweet and funny. None of them dominates, but each is complementary to the other. A great addition to the Men of Hidden Creek!
Orion and Gabriel are a perfect fit. This book just hit all the feels for me! I loved how they fell in love with each other and with their town. This author has such a beautiful way of telling a story that you will fall in love and see the characters and the town as a clear as if you had visited it yourself.Treat yourself to this delightful story that reminds you that hope and love are a possibility for everyone!Shelter is the second book that i have read within the Men of Hidden Creek series and i am so looking forward to reading more! Storm is part of a group of books written by different authors all centered around the town of Hidden Creek. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but the characters pop up in the different books. I’m quite intrigued and will be following them.
Orion and Gabriel seemed like the most unlikely pair. Learning their history in this very small town, brings back memories of your own if you also grew up that way. I liked the way Orion returned to help out with his feisty Gramma. Grandkids can get through where no one else can. Gabriel was such a hard working, honest dreamer. I thought this story was charming and refreshing. This is the first book I have read of Men of Hidden Creek. Because I enjoyed this so much, I'll have to look into some of the others. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!
I love following the men from Hidden Creek, and this is my third book from the standalone series. These guys are so easy to fall for. Cora (gramma) and Gabe's talk was endearing and enlightening. She is a real firecracker and the glue that holds the family together. I loved her wisdom and acceptance. Chad (Gabe's ex) and Art (Gabe's cousin) were leeches and disgusting characters. It was nice to see Gabe grow and blossom under Orion's tutelage. Just what they both needed. I enjoyed seeing Orion come to terms with his authentic self-hot.
